FAQ
This is our most asked question. HTO stands for Heavy Terrain Outback. The HTO also refers to the streamlined shape at the front roof section of the van which cuts away for more aerodynamic travel instead of the traditional ‘box’ design of other caravans.
YES! Van Cruiser Caravans are 100% Melbourne made. The chassis is manufactured in Melbourne and once the chassis arrives at our factory in Carrum Downs we build everything from the chassis up. So, it comes in as a chassis and rolls out as a shiny new caravan.
ABSOLUTLEY! Van Cruiser specialises in building tough off road caravans, this is what they’re meant to do. Our vans have been tried and tested on the Outback tracks all around Australia and are built withstand these off road conditions. The vans are built with heavy duty checkerplate on the sides and the impact zones on the roof with 3mm composite aluminium cladding; protected underneath with ABS coating on the floor, checkerplate water tank guards and protection on plumbing; heavy duty off road chassis with full independent suspension.
TOTALLY! We have a range of battery system options that we tailor to suit your specific needs, from our standard set up to lithium charging systems that give you the freedom to be off the grid for longer. We fit from 360 watts and up to 780 watts of solar on the vans and use and recommend the BMPRO charging system.
Our standard plumbing system includes 2x 95L Water Tanks and a 95L Grey Water Tank. We have an option to upgrade the system to the Split Tanks which includes a 50L Dedicated Drinking Water Tank and a 50L Grey Water Tank (the Split Tanks are fitted instead of the 95L Grey Water Tank). The plumbing for the dedicated Drinking Water Tank is isolated to all the other plumbing on the van and feeds through to the Filter Water Tap in the kitchen only, with its own 12V Pump and filler.
The single axle Tare weights range from 2100kg-2350kg and have a maximum ATM weight of 2800kg. The weights will vary depending on optional extras fitted to the van.
Van Cruiser gives you a 3 year structural warranty on the caravan. The chassis has a 5 year structural warranty and suspension a 3 year structural warranty. The appliances and components will vary from 1-3 years. The warranty period begins the day you pick up your new caravan.
